Attorney Profile
Nicholas M. Braswell is a family law and defense attorney with Friedman Law Firm, P.C. Prior to joining the firm, he gained extensive experience as a defense attorney throughout Central Virginia, for defendants on charges ranging from possession to capital murder. While in law school, Mr. Braswell also worked with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office to develop alternative dispositions for clients with a mental health diagnosis.
Mr. Braswell was led to family law by the recognition of how often it shares space with the criminal defense or mental-health components of his clients’ cases. He has a special concern for these complicated situations, and brings the required expertise as well as zealous representation and advocacy on behalf of his clients. He believes that, given the right type of legal assistance, clients can minimize the complications that criminal or mental-health factors bring to already difficult family situations.
Mr. Braswell earned his B.S. cum laude, in Political Science from North Carolina A & T State University and his J.D. from University of Richmond School of Law. He is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Virginia, the Court of Appeals of Virginia, and all Virginia Trial Courts.
